Communion in the Park
Communion in the Park is an outdoor service happening each Sunday at 1:30 pm, on the South Park Blocks, between Columbia and Jefferson at the Peace Chant statue rain or shine. We all come together to worship with the homeless and church homeless and offer spiritual food for those who hunger for a sense of connection and belonging. All are invited.
Operation Nightwatch
Operation Nightwatch is an ecumenical night ministry of friendship and community that has been serving Portland’s street population since 1981. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7 to 11 pm, ONW is open as a place where guests may drop in and socialize, play games, and develop friendships.
Men's Bible Study
St. Stephen's men's Bible study group meets every Wednesday in the library at 12 noon and adjourns promptly at 1 pm. The men take turns leading the discussions, which never stray far from a study of the scriptures themselves. Occasional guest speakers have explored the relevance of the scriptures today from different perspectives. Each meeting sets aside time for "special concerns" such as illnesses of loved ones, personal conflicts, thanksgivings for answered prayer, the future of our little church - all are taken to the Lord in prayer. We pray that as we walk out into the world, we will see the face of Jesus in every person we meet.
Adult Inquiry
Adult education programs are held at 9 am between services on Sunday in the parish hall.
Begin Within: Centering Prayer and Meditation
Centering Prayer is an ancient prayer method that focuses on emptying the mind of all thoughts and images in order to become fully receptive to the Divine presence. We sit in a circle in silence for 45 minutes, beginning and ending with a soft bell tone. Some participants use a prayer word or mantra as an aid to centering. We meet at the home of Mike Zula and Kelly Laslie Wednesdays at 3:30 pm, 4405 S.E.Rex Street (503) 772-2095 All are welcome- no experience necessary.
